Re-notice

This feature needs Kavin DPDP Cookie Consent Pro with an active licence. Pro is an add-on: it needs the free Kavin DPDP Cookie Consent plugin installed and active.

Section 5(2) of the DPDP Act: people who gave you their data before the law started must be sent a notice explaining what you hold, why, and how to withdraw. You may keep using their data until they withdraw. The Re-notice tab at Kavin Studios → DPDP Consent sends that notice by email.

Write the email

Under The email, set the Subject and Message. A ready-made text is filled in for you. It links to your privacy notice and offers two choices.

You can use these placeholders:

Placeholder	Filled with
{name}	The person's name, or "there" if there is none
{site}	Your site name
{notice_link}	The Privacy notice page set on the Banner and notice tab, or the WordPress privacy policy page
{continue_link}	A link to keep things as they are
{withdraw_link}	A link to stop using their details for offers
{grievance_email}	Your grievance contact email, or the site admin email if that is empty

Keep both links in the email.

Emails per batch (every five minutes) sets the sending speed. The default is 50. Keep this within your mail provider's hourly limit. 50 every five minutes is 600 an hour.

1. Click Save email.
2. Click Send a test to me. The links in the test are examples and do nothing.

Choose who receives it

Under Who receives it, tick one or both:

• WooCommerce customers (from orders): the billing email on each order.
• Registered customers and subscribers: WordPress users with those roles.

Click Count them to see how many people would receive the notice.

Each email address gets the notice once, even if you start again later.

Send

1. Tick I have checked the test email and want to send the notice to everyone above.
2. Click Start sending.

Sending runs in batches every five minutes. Use Pause and Resume to control it. The tab shows when the next batch goes and how many could not be sent.

Emails go through your site's normal email sending. If the email could not be sent, check that your site can send email, for example with Kavin SMTP.

What people see

Each link opens a page in your site's name that asks the person to confirm:

• Keep things as they are? They click Yes, keep things as they are.
• Stop using my details for offers? They click Yes, stop using my details for offers.

Someone who withdraws is switched off from email and WhatsApp offers in their account. Orders they have placed are not affected. See WooCommerce.

Track responses

Once sending starts, the tab shows four counts:

• Waiting to send
• Sent, no reply yet
• Kept as they are
• Withdrew

Click Download responses as CSV for the full list. The file has the columns email, name, source, status, queued_utc, sent_utc and responded_utc.
