The consent banner on a WooCommerce store, with Accept all, Reject all and Choose

01  Overview

What happens on your site

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 requires consent that is free, specific and as easy to withdraw as to give. Kavin DPDP Cookie Consent makes sure no analytics or advertising tag runs until a visitor agrees.

  • On the first visit, nothing optional loads. Google Consent Mode v2 is set to "denied" before any tag can run.
  • The banner offers Accept all and Reject all with equal weight, plus a Choose option with a switch for Analytics and one for Advertising.
  • Each category shows exactly which tools it covers, what they collect, their cookies, how long they are kept and who receives the data.
  • Tags load only for the categories the visitor allows. Allowing Analytics does not allow Advertising.
  • A "Privacy choices" button stays on every page, so visitors can change or withdraw their choice at any time. Withdrawing deletes that category's cookies.
  • Every choice is saved as a consent record with the time and notice version. No name, email or raw IP address is stored.

Tracking tools

Tags from your theme and other plugins are held back too

Enter the ID of Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, Microsoft Clarity or Microsoft Ads (UET), and the plugin adds the tag only after consent.

"Scan my site now" opens your key pages as a visitor would and lists every tag it finds, with its ID and the plugin that added it. If Site Kit by Google is installed, its Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager and AdSense IDs are read automatically. Nothing needs copying across.

WooCommerce

Separate, unticked boxes for email and WhatsApp offers

Works with the classic checkout and the Checkout block.

  • Separate, unticked boxes for email offers and WhatsApp offers at checkout and account signup.
  • Each order gets a note saying what the customer agreed to and declined, with the notice version, shown on the order screen.
  • Customers change or withdraw their choice in My Account → Account details. An unticked box at checkout never cancels an earlier yes.

Consent records

Every choice is saved as proof

Every choice is saved as a consent record with the time and notice version. No name, email or raw IP address is stored. The IP address is kept only as a one-way hash.

Export all consent records as CSV. "Ask everyone again" raises the notice version, and every visitor is asked again.

Privacy notice

A privacy notice built from what your site actually does

Your privacy notice on one page, in English and every language your banner offers. It is built live from what the plugin already knows: the tracking tools on your site, your forms (Kavin Contact Form Builder, Contact Form 7, WPForms), WooCommerce checkout and marketing choices, comments, accounts and your request form.

It never goes out of date; when a new tool appears that visitors did not agree to, you are offered to ask everyone again.

The language menu on the privacy notice: English, Hindi and the other 20 languages

22 languages

The banner in all 22 languages of the Eighth Schedule

The consent banner in English, Hindi and the other 21 languages of the Eighth Schedule, as Section 5(3) of the DPDP Act expects. Pick which languages to offer, link a translated privacy notice page for each, and correct any line of wording.

The 21 translations ship as drafts: have a native speaker check each one before relying on it.

The privacy request form: see, correct or delete data, withdraw consent, nominate someone, or make a complaint

Requests

A request form with a response clock

A form for visitors to ask for a summary of their data, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, a nominee, or to make a complaint (Sections 11 to 14). The requester confirms by email, the response clock starts, and your list shows what is due and what is late.

Replies are emailed from the request screen, every step is kept in its history, and WordPress's own export and erasure tools can be started from it.

Re-notice

Re-notice emails to the people whose data you already hold

Email everyone whose data you already hold, as Section 5(2) asks, with links to keep things as they are or to withdraw. Sent in batches, one email per address, with every response recorded and a CSV to download.

05  FAQ

Questions

Is there a Pro version?+

Yes. Kavin DPDP Cookie Consent Pro is a separate, paid plugin that adds 22 banner languages, a privacy notice page, a privacy request form and re-notice emails. The free plugin does not connect to any Pro service and works fully without it.

Does the banner work with page caching?+

Yes. The page is always sent with tags held back, and the choice is read in the visitor's browser, so a cached page never has tracking switched on.

Which Google Consent Mode is used?+

Basic mode. Google tags are not loaded at all until the visitor allows them, so nothing reaches Google before consent.

My site has no analytics or ads. Will a banner appear?+

No. With no tracking tools configured or found, no banner is shown. The form notice shortcode still works.

Where is the consent record kept?+

In a table in your WordPress database. The IP address is stored only as a one-way hash.

This plugin helps you meet the DPDP Act's consent requirements. It is not legal advice, and your privacy notice must still describe what your site actually does.
